Buckhannon Band of Brothers 12th Annual Help Us Help Kids ‘From 1 to 101’

Help Us Help Kids is an annual Christmas project conducted by a Band of Brothers comprised of Christian men from various churches across Upshur County.

Our goal is to brighten the Christmas - New Year season for those less fortunate, i.e., underprivileged children, disadvantaged families, and families struggling to recover from natural disasters:

“And let us not grow weary of doing good…” Galatians 6:9 (ESV)

More recently, each year, we have helped hundreds of disadvantaged families locally, in surrounding counties, and across the state by working with the groups that are on the front line to ensure less fortunate people have food for the holidays and presents for their children.

Because of the devastation caused by the July 21st flash flooding, this year’s focus will be on our Lewis and Upshur County neighbors who have lost so much. Many families are and will be displaced for considerable time, while others will be laboring to restore and refurbish their homes. Our goal is to ease their worry about family holiday meals and their children’s Christmas joy.

In past years, due to the generosity of friends, not only locally but statewide and nationally, we have helped flood, tornado, and hurricane victims across West Virginia and in Kentucky and North Carolina.

Following the July 21st disaster, those friends and many more astounded us again with their kindness. Flood victims were overwhelmed by the outpouring of financial help. We often heard: “You don’t know how much this means,” “We can’t believe the kindness,” and “God bless to all that made it possible.”

Now our work begins to ensure these families have a blessed Christmas.

As in the past, we can’t do our work without the amazing support of so many friends, businesses, and organizations who purchase our calendars and make generous donations. We are only your “conduit” to those in need, and we are humbled to pass along your generosity. God bless you!
